Public bug reported:

If I clone

git://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-kernel-test/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git
/mainline-crack

and try to checkout the commit hash for v4.10.6
(df6ed56f43524c1cefa9a8bc5126a09ce01e3bc3) I get "fatal: reference is
not a tree". This appears to be a problem going back to v4.10.4. Looking
at the git log the last commit appears to be from the middle of March.
As a result I'm unable to checkout the latest v4.10 maintenance release
so that I can compile it.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
