Had to reinstall OS due to some crash not allowing Ubuntu to load.
Cannot install amd64 files due to missing dependencies. I don't think I
have the experience necessary to help with this specific problem.

Please don't try applying patches. That's not relevant right now. Please
just follow comment #3 or try installing the amd64 deb files from:
https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.5-rc5/

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Applying patches via this guide:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/724900/how-to-apply-kernel-patches
First time applying patches. All applied successfully, but when
executing make, the following fatal error occurred:
markian@gymnopedie:~/kernel_update/v5.5-rc4$ make
SYSTBL arch/x86/include/gene
Something went wrong in the process after applying patches; issue is not
resolved. I've looked up the kernel patch guide but am still confused on
what steps should be taken to complete the process after applying the
patches. Any advice or a link?
