The problem is fixed using 4.15.0-142-generic for me, so I recommend
anybody who still has issues to make sure they're not using an old

I have the same issue on Ubuntu 18.04 after upgrading from Xenial last
week, but using the Xenial kernel (4.4.0-171-generic). It worked fine
before the upgrade. The kernel log shows a kernel oops: a warning
followed by a general protection fault, both in the i915 code. Since I'm
still on the Xenial
Just try another driver at Software & Updates --> Additional Drivers

I also experience this bug (very frequently) on Ubuntu 20.10.
Unfortunately I can't switch to another graphics driver, my laptop has
an i915 chipset.
$ lsmod|grep i915
i915 2273280 8
drm_kms_helper225280 1 i915

Try changing display driver and hopefully it will be solved

I use two monitors.
I noticed that every time I use Zoom, Ubuntu frezzes completely, at least the
desktop. Other zoom participants inform me that they can hear me and see me but
my system is not responsive no matter
It appears the nouveau kernel driver is crashing so that's likely the
problem.
You might want to try the proprietary Nvidia driver instead, in:
