This happens for me on a builder chroot trying to build linux-meta of a derivative kernel. == Fix == The fix would be to skip running the script if update-initramfs is not available. The check was taken from the /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools script which has exactly that check at the beginning. == Testcase == Building linux-meta in a sbuild chroot which should again work without the messages about verifying links. Reinstalling a kernel on a system with update-initramfs existing should still print the messages. == Regression Potential == Systems with update-initramfs installed and initrd files might for some reason again fail to fix missing links.
