Title:
AUDIO POPPING After New Kernel install: 5.15.0-88.98
Status in linux
One independent report
(https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=2404622#p2404622) and my
own observation (incl. reverting above mentioned workaround) indicate
that the issue might be resolved in 5.15.0-91.

I had this issue a lot on Kernel 6.2.0-36, reverted to 6.2.0-35, now
upgraded to 6.2.0-37 and the popping is back. This is on Linux Mint 21.2
The thread linked in the previous comment is my issue.

Seems like it confirms that the issue is related to "snd_hda_intel"
driver or settings related to it in ALSA. All reports (here & Linux Mint
Forum) mention this - independent of computer brand - except one
(separate) post probably unrelated on Linux Mint Forum
I can confirm this audio popping on two Asus PN50. One with Kernel 5.15.0-87
the other with 6.2.0-36.
Rolling back to older kernel solved it on both machines.

5.8.4 tk: GTK 3.24.33

Hi. I have an Acer E5-576G and tried to update to 5.15-89 today and I still get
the same audio popping issue as the 5.15-88 through the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Rolled back once again to 5.15-87 and no problems.
I've noticed after looking at the bug reports that the issue seems to
happen to quite
I can confirm aswell that on Linux Mint 21.2 Mate my kernel 5.15.0-88 is
causing audio popping and my solution was also to rollback to my
previous kernel! I can also confirm that as of 11-21-2023 that it is
also happening with kernel 5.15.0-89. I am using an Aspire 3 with an
i3-11.

Looking to https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=406953, this
issue might not be limited to 5.15.0-88 but could affect also 6.2.0-36.

Same issue here with 3.5 mm audio output - no issue via HDMI.
For sake of completeness: The workaround to add in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-
base.conf a new last line "options snd-hda-intel power_save=0
power_save_controller=N" is not resolving but avoiding only the issue -
still presenting twice
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

My Guess is, the above was broke when...
