We've been having a bit of a discussion in #kicad - there's a particular
annoyance in GAL related to rev 6324 / bug 1517216 (the footprint delete
confirmation). If you're zoomed in "inside" a large footprint - to work on
traces running under it, for instance - it's really easy to accidentally
Hi folks,
I'm trying to wrap up all the OS X packaging related bugs ASAP before 4.0.0
drops shortly. I got a nasty one where we weren't actually supporting
10.8, but as of this morning I fixed that! (It wasn't a KiCad code change.)
However!
For OS X, we put packages3d next to modules, rather
Hi folks,
I just uploaded a new RC2 image, http://downloads.kicad-pcb.org/osx/stable/.
I recompiled pixman and cairo on the build system, and it now works
correctly on OS X 10.8.
I would appreciate further testing but it *should* be a zero impact change
for 10.9-10.11.

Yes there is a conflict. I was waiting for someone to fix it. You see the

Hi Wayne,
Patch for the segfault in the attachment. There are also two more bugfixes:
#1514081: recalculation of the ratsnest after drawing a zone in the GAL
I'm in there twice too now.
@Wayne you added people in the latest commit you also didn't follow
the last name alphabetical order the rest of the names were in.

Dear Wayne and JP,
In AUTHORS.txt, I am counted twice as a translator in Japanese.
Following two lines mean the same person (me!).
62: Japanese (JA) Kenta Yonekura
63: Japanese (JA) yoneken
Could you modify the lines to "Japanese (JA) Kenta
Thank you Jean-Samuel!

Slick! Faster than I thought to make the change on a branch for
kicad-libraries. This would make it so new from-source builders on OS X
install their packages3d to the same place as nightly and release users.
If you think it's a good idea, I'll propose the 8 line patch to Carl and
the rest of
Hi Wayne,
Attached is the updated patch. Do you think I should also do a patch for
the library group so from-source builders on OS X will match the nightlies?
(I probably should have done this a long time ago actually!)

I can confirm this appears to fix it as well.

Adam,
Is this going to break anything for users who compile from source? It
looks as though it might. If so, you might want to have both paths in
the search list just in case. AFAIK, the search path code removes all
non-existent paths from the list.

Dear All,
I reshaped kicad packages to split on multiples packages (for ubuntu ppa)
Now there are:
Package "kicad": all binaries for KiCad, pictures, scripts...
Package "kicad-dbg": debug symbols for binaries (not installed by default)
Package "kicad-demo": All demo files (not installed by

I can definitely add the extra search path in. It was only meant to impact
new users without preferences already.

Hi Cirilo,
This patch should just change the default packages3d (for new users who
don't have preferences saved) to match what we're currently shipping.
I will definitely look at your branch once 4.0.0 is released :)
