This enables C++11 support, if either CMake is sufficiently new to have
this feature built in, or the compiler is supported by the workaround code
(gcc or clang).

after all the C++11 discussion, here is a patch to use C++11 as default,
tested on Linux and MSYS2.

In regard to this, I have tried to rested with your new status line
update, and now I can see that what I see is the initial low res
image, and I get a higher res image after some rendering time not
touching anyhing.
