I'm pretty sure versions newer than 2014-05-31 would tell you where it was
looking for the
template file, with a popup window.
I've worked the last two days on project related improvements and should have
those
committed within a couple of days. I suggest upgrading in about a week.

I'm running kicad (2014-05-31 BZR 4902)-product on MacOS from a build I
downloaded and i'm having a serious problem.
It's been working fine for a while, i have made boards and done some work
