Hi, I want to create pads with a pad drill size of 1 mm and a pad size of 1.8 mm (round shape). So, the first thing I did was switching from inches to mm. When I type in the values 1.0 and 1.8 for Pad DrillX and Pad Size respectively in the Pad Settings dialogue box, the system accepts the value

Hi, No problem at all. Kicad uses inches internally, that's the difference in the 4th decimal using mm. Anyway one must be sure, no matter the unit used, that the pcb maker has the needed drill size. Or the other way round, one must know the drill sizes available and design with them in mind.
