Hi all...
I've been using Kicad for well over a year now, and I love it. I recently
bought a new laptop, compiled and installed Kicad, and noticed the following
problem: pcbnew's display refreshes significantly more slowly than it does on
my old machine. More details follow:
My new laptop is f
Hello,
some of my texts like "J7" appear on the top silkscreen, some others appear on
the bottom silkscreen.
Since I'd like to use only one (the top) silkscreen, I want all texts to be
placed on the top silkscreen - but I didn't find any way how to change the
layer.
Can anybody help me please

I think we need to understand the difference between feature creep (aka scope
creep, never-ending feature requests, etc) and asking for the interface to
follow certain industry-accepted standards for the way certain things work. I
don't think anyone is asking for an endless list of features. I
Leave Kicad the ^%$%& alone. Just fix the bugs. This is what gets
projects in trouble. When you go to work how many projects have you been
on that either fail outright or are overrun both financially and in
terms of schedule by feature creep. It never ceases to amaze me how many
times we engin

I am not sure who wrote this, but he is welcome to the developers group.

Yes nobody means to not show appreciation for the ingenuity that has
undoubtedly gathered to create any program of such complexity as KiCad!
But standards are not only fun, they are essential for a programs survival!
Or lets say it in more commercial terms: Market Share!

I am very greatful for KiCAD and the hard work everyone has put into producing
it and then giving it away for free. Having worked on large systems that have
evolved over time, I have the utmost empathy and respect for those that
maintain it as well. Thank you all!
I hope no one has taken any
It's been a LNG time since I've used AutoCAD. I do recall it having some
strange quirks about the way it did "rubber band" selections. I do recall
using the keyboard a lot more too, but then again, a mouse was a $150 luxury
back then as well on a 12 MHz IBM AT.

I don't think you can be that dismissive. The point about kicad and
other cad packages is that editing often requires nested actions.
Autocad (if I remember correctly) allowed you to prepend a command with
' to indicate command nesting. The modern way to do that is with the
context menu, an

Sure, but I prefer function over flash. Also the trend is to use keyboard
shortcuts more and more. This is even evident in Micr

If KiCad had an interface that more closely mimicked the generally-accepted
norms for mouse gestures it would be less frustrating to learn."
