The start menu is missing from Windows 8.1. While this has nothing to do with KMM there are several ways to get the start menu back. One option is called classic shell: http://www.classicshell.net/ I run KMM on Linux and have never installed it on Windows but I'll bet the menu entries are there

Hello Greg, which version of Ubuntu are you using? That will give us a clue on what commands you have to use to downgrade to 0.8 for a quick conversion to the new XML format. The binary file is very old, .a lot older than 0.8. Even KMyMoney 1.0 is frozen and out of maintenance by now. Regards,
