Hi All,
I¹m having a problem with Koha and the scanning/entering of Item and Patron
Barcodes.
Whenever you scan/enter a barcode or patron barcode in any module of Koha
(Acquisitions, Cataloguing, Circulation [Checkin/Out], Serials, etc.) the
following error will appear and Koha won¹t perform the
All,
Where is the permission to do overdue.pl? We need our circulation staff
the ability to do that and I can't figure where it is.
Thanks!

Joel,
That particular section of C4/Biblio.pm is in the _AddBiblioNoZebra
subroutine. Are you running Koha in NoZebra mode? It's not a very common
configuration anymore. What is the approximate size of your bibliographic
database?
Cheers,

Linda,
It's the Circulation: Remaining Permissions permission, at this time.

Joel,Sorry to hear you're having trouble. I have a few questions, if you don't mind. What operating system are you running Koha on?Which minor release of 3.4 (the last digit is important)? Is this a new install or an upgraded install? If it is an upgraded install, was the previous install running
Ian,
They have that one, but can't do the overdues. It appears to be the
reports one maybe?
Thanks!

What do you mean by 'do overdue.pl'? Overdues are sent automatically
by Koha using the cron job - your circulation staff shouldn't have to
touch anything related to that.

Sending your response to the list so they can all see it. :)I suspect that your problem lies in your current NoZebra configuration. I'm not sure what to tell you to do since you *want* to keep using your NoZebra.Any thoughts out there?

Sorry all, I didn't explain myself very well. I meant that from the

it is the link for Overdues that goes to overdue.pl
Without the reports permissions, they get sent back to the login screen

I'm curious, do you feel that this particular report should be available to
circulation staff with regular circulation permissions, or is it ok that your
circ staff has access to all of reports? If so, it might be a good idea to file
a bug about that.

I actually do have an opinion because I do need the overdue report to

I should add that collections over 10k, we usually really recommend using Zebra for indexing. As a data point for you, I have run a functioning library with 8k or so records with zebra on a P4 with 1G of RAM. So, zebra isn't *that* big of a hog. You could do it on very modest hardware.

It should probably be pointed out that No Zebra code will probably be
removed at some point in the future. So along with the fact that it is
deprecated and unsupported, it is really a dead end road as well.

How does one properly install Koha with Zebra not in the default (/var)
location?
During the install process, I'm asked for and can relocate the primary
Koha software directory. But when asked if I want to use Zebra, I'm not
given the same choices. And when Koha sets up locations for Zebra
I agree with Linda,
I think that all circ staff should be able to run the circ reports on
the circulation page without reports permissions - otherwise why are
those reports not with the other reports - why are they listed on the
circulation page?

Sorry to bring a mundane question to the list, but we're down to the wire with
implementing and I need some advice.
We are a small academic library with about 10 library assistants. We
considered creating separate staff-type patron records for them so they could
log in and we could track
NEKLS does exactly this - we have 3 accounts for each of our 36 libraries, a
circ (can do anything with borrowers, and circulate books), a tech (can do
cataloging, reports and edit items as well as circ), and a director account (as
close to a superuser as we'll allow, so everything but

You could install it, and then move the files somewhere else, updating
the configuration so that it knows to look for it in the new place.
