the best way to install Koha is from packages on Debian or Ubuntu system,
try to follow these instructions:

(the main work is done in command line, you don't need screenshots)

I noticed this after upgrading to 3.18.1 (from 3.16). If a patron has overdue
items, they receive the overdue notice, but the list of overdue items includes
all the books they have checked out, not only the overdue ones.

If I understand this correctly it would seem that separate item types would be
enough to restrict use of the two collections to the right groups of students.
We do something similar to limit who is allowed to use DAISY-books.
