Thanks Liz and Katrin I'm beginning to think that it may be a problem with mariadb or something else that was updated recently. I'm currently running openSUSE 13.2 with mariadb 10.0.21 with Koha 3.18.10 built from a tar ball. I tried to setup 3.18.11 and selected "install all optional
