You mean the koha-indexer daemon?
You enable by doing:
koha-indexer --enable
And then start it with:
koha-indexer --start

We are having some issues with zebra indexation. Modifications to
registries are not reflected on queries after saving them.
ps -ef shows zebra server is running, but not zebra update.script
koha-common in cron.dayly has a commented line about un-commenting this
line if not wishing the zebra
We recently installed three AMH sorters sourced from Bibliotheca and had a
puzzling problem where almost 3,000 items appear to have been returned at 6am
on 28th August. We now believe this is down to the Backdating feature on one of
the sorters being turned on, and accidently left on for weeks.
