KOL. 23 December 2001. Maoists bomb residence of Minister Wagle.

KATHMANDU -- Maoists bombed the residence of Minister for Physical
Planning and Works Chiranjivi Wagle in Jutpane of Chitwan district
Sunday night, according to latest news sent by our district
correspondent. Minister Wagle headed the government side in the failed
peace talks with the Maoists.

The report, quoting police sources, says that property worth around Rs.
100,000 has been damaged in the incident. No further details could be
obtained on the matter.

Likewise, the rebels also damaged the residence of lawmaker Eknath
Ranabhat by bursting a petrol bomb at Pituwa VDC of the same district,
our report adds. The incident is said to have taken Sunday night at
around 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, our correspondent in Bardia adds that police arrested three
women Maoists and seized nine muskets, one rifle and a few grenades
after a brief encounter that took place in Belasha.
