The Nuevo Presidente bridge on Catatumbo River was located between Cucuta and Tibu, Norte de Santander province, 582 km northeast of Bogota. The authorities have not identified the group that destroyed the bridge, but said the attack was the third against the same infrastructure in two years. Two months ago, Tibu municipal authorities re-inaugurated the bridge after investing nearly 250,000 U.S. dollars.
