KR> Amphibious A/C

2008-10-12 Thread Randolph R. Clark
I remember a pic many years ago of an airplane that Ken Rand built, I believe he called it the KR-3. It was an amphibious plane-pilot under canopy up front with eng. behind. I think that it was underpowered and the idea and plane scrapped. Anyone know about this plane and what happened to it.

scarf joints aligning. I just added another vertical member or as the case on the bottom, added another horizontal member. Not much weight and a little strength added RR Clark

2008-10-12 Thread Randolph R. Clark
Reply about tailwheel thickness using cf. I built my tailwheel spring of about 12 inches using 28 layers of 6 oz. cloth alternating unidirectional and bidirectional cloth, app. 8mm thick. It has worked great. I land on grass alot and it has taken the abuse well. Randy Clark

KR> Air inlet

2008-10-12 Thread Randolph R. Clark
I did have problems with my Posa. I still am not always happy. My problem was that my prop was to much pitch and when the throttle was fully opened, I didn't turn up enough rpm to use up the free flowing fuel that entered the carb. Once I reduced the pitch of my prop, I turned up the rpms enough

KR> Air inlet

2008-10-12 Thread Randolph R. Clark
I might add that my plane also ran great static high rpm on the ground but it was because I didn't have alot of fuel in the tank and the plane was sitting on its tailwheel and not as much head pressure so fuel was less and it ran good. Randy Clark Salina, Ks. - Original Message - From:

KR> Landing practice

2008-10-12 Thread Randolph R. Clark
One thing I did that helps me for control and landings. I put a U channel aluminum center console between myself and passenger that allows the heel of my hand to rest while my fingers do the "walking" so to speak. It keeps me from over controlling and I can pull back on the stick very gradual

KR> Canopy

2008-10-12 Thread Randolph R. Clark
Jim, I built my KR in 1986. My 1835 eng still performs well. I have double ignitions but no starter. My 8 amp alt. is in the wing with a small 4 bladed prop that spins it up nicely. My canopy opens to the side and is held in place by 2 aluminum tubes connected in the middle by a spring in
