Netters,
Set the cable lengths today and got the bellcranks lined up. Now they are
even, and the stick stops at the same place both sides. The ailerons are
different so different length push rods are needed, so I will be fabricating
those tomorrow. I need to safety wire the turnbuckles, and cotter pin the
final bolt assemblies. The bent rod and welded rods are being replaced with
new solid rods tomorrow. Tommy had added an additional spacer to get the
ailerons even at their neutral points, when he found the rear cable would
not reach after using the turnbuckles at the stick to make the ailerons
neutral, instead of centering the bell-cranks, and making different length
pushrods to match the individual sides. I am still way short of the plans
angle movement at 20 degrees up & 10 degrees down, measured at the trailing
edge. I will also re-drill the aileron arm of the bellcrank tomorrow, and
re-install, and that should achieve the required amount of deflection per
the plans. I will also install the recommended 1/2 aluminum spacer for the
better rod to aileron tab geometry. Getting very close!
Pictures posted to the site as soon as Dan can (poet & don't know it).
