Hi Stan
This is pretty much how I did mine see www.peterskr2s.co.uk. Haven't flown

From what I have heard the wing tip mod is supposed to give you more
lift and lower your stall speed.
I do not think you gain much in the way of speed.

Keep in mind that you can't eliminate induced drag...you will always have
wingtip vortices. I can't write the formula on my tablet. (cl squared /
pi e AR). Most wingtip devices simply improve the efficiency by increasing
the effective span or increasing the elliptical ratio since that's about

I did extensive testing with N56ML, and then changed the tips to Hoerner.
There was only a slight improvement in speed, but a real difference in
climb and glide capability. See the bottom of http://www.n56ml.com/900hour/

Re: wing tips
I re-created the swept style wing tips of the famous race plane Nemesis by Jon
Sharpe on my KR2S although with a little less sweep for practical reasons.
Not sure what speed improvements there might be but it sure looks cool!
Probably the only KR2S with these tips .

Stan,
I did that mod after flying the plane for 4 years with the standard tips. When
I added the tips, I also cut 8? off of each wing. I don?t know if it made any
speed difference (too many mods at the same time), but it certainly changed the
way it lands. It is extremely heavy for a Sonerai I
Wingtips that hold fuel provide wing spar loading relief. You should be
able to increase the max gross pound for pound...maybe even more if you
burn out of the wingtips last.
