KR> How to measure length of KR1 or KR2s

Hey guys, what is the proper way to measure the length of my KR1 boat stage? I 
am measuring from front edge of firewall to trailing edge of rudder and see 
13'. The plans call for 12'9"
Where am I going wrong?
