I have what I believe to be Deihl legs on my KR2 and two months ago had a
landing mishap which appears to have been caused by the two lower bolts of
the four ¼ bolts that attach the axle stub to the undercarriage leg having
their nuts stripped off and the top two bending severely. (This was the
result of a small bounce two up in a light left cross wind and a subsequent
touch down a little right wing low and with a bit of drift on I think.) We
didn’t ground loop, but by fierce use of the brakes I managed to keep it
straight but at an angle to the runway which we subsequently departed and
tipped over in the very soft grass, still within the runway boundaries.....
couldn’t steer with the RH wheel at a funny angle ....

They were AN bolts with nyloc nuts ...... The bolt threads have the nut
threads still in them!

Question. Is ¼ the usual bolt size for these axle fittings?

Oh, and yes, we did make the news ..... Unfortunately.
