I have a Fisher FP202 Koala with hinge pins holding the upper cowl on (the lower cowl is held on with screws). They work great - takes about 10 seconds to get the cowl off for an engine check, and about the same to put it back on. One pin down each side and two much shorter ones across the front.

I found several photos detailing the hinge joint installation, and have put them near the bottom of http://www.n56ml.com/cowling.html. Looking at the time stamps on the pictures, this process took me four hours from start to finish to fasten the hinges to the top of the cowling (judging from t
