How does Gnome do it? In Ubuntu, packages are installed by calling
synaptic automatically if they're not installed. I belive both Samba and
NTP do this.

I just discovered that k3b doesn't correctly handle the 2GB barrier
either.
The UDF extension has to be enabled for files larger than 2GB. To me,
that means that if a file is 2**31 or bigger, UDF should be
