Coming from a fresh install of Kubuntu 6.06 LTS, I enabled the root

I have the same problem with dapper. As I found the problem is related to k3b
in conjunction to kernel >= 2.6.14.

Upgrading from Breezy still locks trying to start pcmcia-cs (it appears
that it locks access to the filesystem, then deadlocks), using the
Software Updates GUI. If this fix only works via command line, then I'd
say it's still "broken".

gnome icons are indeed missing in the KDE menus (all of the icons
display perfectly though when running Gnome (I have both KDE + Gnome

Bug can be solved by adding an apprpriate instruction to:
/etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc
Within the [General] secition, add the line:
ExportList=LANG
The packaged kdmrc should provide this or any proper way of letting kdm
to export LANG to kde sessions.

If TwinView is not supported, it should lock out the xorg.conf setup
