I have the same problem on my Compaq NX9420, ATI X1600, Dual-Core, 2Gig RAM.

I installed 7.04 used alt F7 to move the install window so that it is
viewable.
I then went to find xorg.conf to edit. I couldn't find it anywhere. Not
