My media buttons are detected in the Global Shortcuts and the mute,
volume up, and volume down work for the system. Pause/Play, track
buttons, and stop does not work with Amarok. Amarok is the best, and
it's awful not having this feature. Hope this gets fixed soon.

it seems that if I add
resume=/dev/sda3

/boot/grub/menu.lst after the line "# defoptions="
then suspend to disk works perfectly!

Im not totally sure what you are suggesting, but this is not a new
feature, its a bug. Other distros handle hiding/showing shares on the
desktop fine within kde, it seems to be Kubuntu specific. Sorry if I've
missed something here.
