Well, there are similar problems around, i.e. I hear no music although
pressing the test button in sound system configuration gives me the
sounds.
So the bug, IMHO, is maybe not that there is a missconfiguration.

No sound -
Does it effect it if you install KDE over GDM too? This is what I did
and it interlaced. So there is the different scripts that i must modify
to disable the default-display-manager. So how does one do this?

You are right, this issue has nothing to do with virtualbox.
I have exactly the same problem with a fresh installed Ubuntu 9.04
machine. The problem with the cursor even appears in qt4-designer,
changing the object name for example.
I have tested it with one of my own application. It don't work
I can't believe that this bug is going to make it into Karmic final :( I
just helped a friend of mine get rid of his spyware ridden Windows
install by installing Karmic RC remotely and fully updated it. I was sad
to hear that the screen was flickering when it restarted. I tried the
HAL patch
