i forgot to mention the installer doesnt offer me to change or do
anything with the keyboard layout -- it skips that step
altogethergoes from time zone selection directly to username &
password section --- even if i go back and forward in installer...

I just tried to track it down (once again). I deleted all config files
and directories that belong to kmail and akonadi and started with a
"fresh" install. I downloaded all mails from my account via pop3
(~17,000) and created new filters.
Filtering all the mails manually was no problem. Not a sing

To investigate this further I tried the following: I added a filter
executing a "/usr/bin/sleep 0.3" for each mail downloaded. I did not get
any duplicated filtered mails anymore after doing so.

Is the same issue reproducible when using bash as the shell? Issuing a
cd command should be local to the shell, not global, so it might be in
issue with byobu.
