Title:
Hard Crash During pcmcia-cs Installation

The problem is not one I can fix in dapper. This is is the result of
pcmcia-cs from dapper being started on a breezy kernel (like what
happens during the upgrade process).
I firmly believe the bug and fix lies in the pcmcia-cs package itself.
Only it can decide not to restart itself in this upgrad
We're going to need some sort of trace or crash message in order to
debug this.
I'm not sure how to can get X to start while staying in the console to
see any kernel messages. Have you checked /var/log/kern.log to see if
anything is captured there?
Have you tried booting the SMP kernel with nosmp
How are the internal and external disks connected? I assume the external
is either USB or Firewire, but what is the chipset of the internal
drive?

Pretty sure this has nothing to do with firewire. Please try booting with
earlyprintk=vga, and take a screenshot of anything that comes up (digital

Can you take a photo of the last thing on the screen? Before doing so,

Comment:
Please attach dmesg output. This very likely wont be fixed for Breezy,
so if you could test Dapper (even just the liveCD, which doesn't require
upgrading the kernel) to verify the bug there, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
