use sudo apt build-dep amarok
get source build as package, i.e. dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us -b
What happens: fails at end with /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -llz4
One way to resolve is to install liblz4-dev

The new issue arose with the upgraded overlay-scrollbar package

using LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 ubuntuone-control-panel-qt & it works fine
Otherwise drains all the memeory, fill the cache, ect.

Recently in 12.10 this has started occurring again, in a very similar fashion

LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 vlc again prevents any bad behavior
So pretty much the same as before, only diff is the affected vlc windows
are an impossible width, last time it was height - ex. of Media > Open
Disc. (Open Media), window

Just wanted to add. note that unity-2d & gnome-shell, while not quite as
affected as unity, also show poor behavior (at least here
attached screen of vlc in playlist view in unity-2d, note that the window
extends ad-infinitum to the bottom

also an option - find a ppa or whatever
