Wait, the intention of that was to remove Plymouth and *leave it
removed*? Well of course that "fixes" the observed bug in Plymouth...

Doing "sudo apt purge --reinstall plymouth" wasn't sufficient to fix it
for me. What did fix it for me, though, was adding a mkdir statement, as
I explained in #1866372 before this bug was opened.

Hi guys,
Could somebody please tell me how to add the patch. I guess I copy and
paste to a text file, which file would it be? Also do I paste over
anything or do just add it to the end of the script. I never edited
something in gedit before but I guess it doesn't sound that difficult if
it's just

Thank you for your bug report. Could you please elaborate on exactly

Usually that is a good thing so I think I misunderstand the problem.

Thinking about it, I realize that this might change the meaning of
what the x-www-browser alternative specifies. Its behaviour currently
you could describe as, the preferred browser, whereas with my proposed

Because this isn't really
Just as a note, the KDE bug seems to be referring mainly to gapless

Kubuntu setting default components
I think we are overcomplicating this. Do all gnome apps only look at
/etc/alternatives/x-www-browser? I find it hard to believe that Gnome
has no way of setting a per-user preferred browser. If there is a way to
set it, then kcontrol / guidance (whichever is responsible, I'm unsure)
