If kile is opened, it stops the system from switching off / logout, even if all
the files are saved.
Under gnome it does not show any message that it prevented system from shut
down.
This is a very minor annoyance.

("shift button + left mouse button"). Are you sure that okular's
version present in Ubuntu supports inverse search with kile? Or is it
just my computer that fails to do inverse search?

killall knetworkmanager
and run the GNOME applet by
nm-applet
Works like a charm but needs to be done after every login... Probably
this could be automated by putting these commands into some KDE's
autorun files.
