I have just had this problem today for the first time. Using Kile
2.0.84 on Ubuntu 9.04, 64 bit. I am using an external keyboard with a
laptop but they are both standard English language keyboards. I tried
alt-tab and restarting kile but no effect. Suddenly the only key that
works in Kile is sp
apt-cache policy kile

I installed the version from the ppa above, and that fixed it.

I went back through the list of KDE programs in Synaptic and installed
all the debug packages that I thought might be useful. Then I tried
this again, and got a (hopefully) more useful output.

I am running Kile 2.0.81 (although the splash screen says 2.1 beta) on
Jaunty, 64 bit. Help->About in Kile says it is using KDE 4.2.2, though
at the moment I am jus
