It seems that when you try to change the password polkit doesn't ask for
authentication and doesn't do anything.
if you do something else before, like changing the real name, it

I have the same problems (Kubuntu 16.10, SDDM, network-manager, notebook
with Skylake Core-i3-6100U with external HDMI-Monitor both 1920x1080px).
I did some experiments to find the cause:
1. create a new user test2
2. reboot
3. login as test2
4. --> Fast login to the Plasma --> Since
The verification of the Stable Release Update for kamera has completed
successfully and the package has now been released to -updates.
Subsequently, the Ubuntu Stable Release Updates Team is being

I use Kontact and KORganizer with Kubuntu 14.10 and it works. Then I
upgraded to Kubuntu 15.04 on this machine and Kontact fails to start the
Akonadi backend. I have read that this is because of a MySQL upgrade in
the new version of Kubuntu.
