Yesterday I was trying to update to the latest version of k3b from the
ubuntu repository, but the upgrade failed due to the fact that the
unstripped ffmpeg packages are installed on my system, and the
libk3b6-extracodecs package
I have had some more luck in this area. Before, knetworkmanager4
/plasma-widget-nm would do absolutely nothing in every case. Now, it
successfully connects to my home network (WPA2) but will not connect to
the networks at college, which are unsecured. Wicd is still working
fine for both.

Manually forcing global subpixel rendering, by messing with
/etc/fonts/conf.d, does not fix this problem either. The main program
titles are still rendered with normal antialiasing, and the gray text

Oops. I wasn't thinking about dependencies. You shouldn't try to
install the packages from Karmic, because the QT package would probably
break your system. My recommendation would be to contact one of the
maintainers of the KDE 4.3 PPA and ask him/her to upload the digikam
package, referencing
Apparently, Digikam just needs to be rebuilt against the KDE 4.3
libraries, and possibly other Karmic-specific things. I did a test
build with my pbuilder, and it seems to be working fine. I am uploading
it to my PPA now, so maybe you could give it a shot once it finishes
uploading and building.

On my Dell Vostro 1500 with Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty 64-bit, the display
brightness slider is not properly updated when switching power modes,
whether it is automatically or manually. The actual switching of
