Networkmanager seems to be designed only for dynamic IP.
Well it's not practical for evryone!
It must be able to let you specify for any specific BSSID if you want DHCP or
Static IP, just like wlassistant does!

It happens the same in standard kubuntu 5.10 setup.
It has something to do with the sudo timestamp, because I have to type sudo -k
in order to be able to get kdesu usable again... well or wait some time in
order to get s
