This is now fixed in lp:qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu, but not yet uploaded to saucy. So when using the SDK Release PPA, which equals to what we will have after the next upload, 'Ubuntu SDK' if found via both Software Center manually and on the Applications lens in Dash. When installed via Dash,

I don't know the details of how SC works / gets the list of installable apps, but something in this equation probably matters: - qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu is the package that ships ubuntu-sdk.desktop (name Ubuntu SDK, executes qtcreator) - qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu, even if it would be installable,
