Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: konsole

Python's os.getlogin() function fails when it is runs under KDE
terminals (like, konsole, kate, and kdevelop). It does not fail under
virtual consoles, xterm, or gnome's terminal.

I've reproduced this konsole bug on both Kubuntu Edgy (Python 2.4.4c1) and
Kubuntu Fiesty (Python 2.5.1)
To reproduce, open konsole, type python , type import os; os.getlogin()

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<stdin>", line 1, in ?
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

I guess konsole messes up some environment variables, or something.

** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
