Using 2.6.15-23-386 kernel, there's no longer the "Asus ACPI: Error reading LCD
status" in dmesg, but the splash screen still comes up frequently.
I also didn't get this bug when using Kanotix or other KDE distros.

Probably I should mension, that I didn't experience that behavior on a
Knoppix Hd installation (3.8.1 2005-04-08 vmlinuz-2.6.11-1-686) nor on
any later Knoppix/Kanotix Live-CD.
