Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kpackagekit
I set packagekit to automatically install "security only" a few days ago, but was surprised today when noticing that it started automatically installing a package from my xorg-edgers ppa. I can confirm that this happened by looking at the /var/log/dpkg.log file 2009-04-26 00:25:02 startup archives unpack 2009-04-26 00:25:45 upgrade xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090422.7b01aa5c-0ubuntu0tormod 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:45 status half-configured xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090422.7b01aa5c-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:45 status unpacked xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090422.7b01aa5c-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:45 status half-installed xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090422.7b01aa5c-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:46 status triggers-pending man-db 2.5.5-1build1 2009-04-26 00:25:46 status half-installed xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090422.7b01aa5c-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:46 status half-installed xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090422.7b01aa5c-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:47 status unpacked xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:47 status unpacked xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:47 trigproc man-db 2.5.5-1build1 2.5.5-1build1 2009-04-26 00:25:47 status half-configured man-db 2.5.5-1build1 2009-04-26 00:25:50 status installed man-db 2.5.5-1build1 2009-04-26 00:25:52 startup packages configure 2009-04-26 00:25:52 configure xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:52 status unpacked xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:52 status half-configured xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:53 status installed xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.7.99.1+git20090424.106e4b44-0ubuntu0tormod 2009-04-26 00:25:53 status triggers-pending libc6 2.9-4ubuntu6 2009-04-26 00:25:53 trigproc libc6 2.9-4ubuntu6 2.9-4ubuntu6 2009-04-26 00:25:53 status half-configured libc6 2.9-4ubuntu6 2009-04-26 00:25:54 status installed libc6 2.9-4ubuntu6 ...where the xserver-xorg-video-intel is the unwanted package.
