FL6 is quite old and there were several fixed in knetworkconf to address
the problem.
Can you test with up-to-date dapper (daily CD or apt-get upgrade)?
Can you provide /etc/network/interfaces and the stack trace (you may need to
install "gdb" package first)

So
i tried with FL7 but it simply refuses to work on my computer..
i will try with the current cd but i can't apt-get upgrade since i've no
internet connection w/o wifi.
the latest release just hangs after getting me to the desktop, from then i can
move the mouse but can't do anything...

If yes, please attach /etc/network/interfaces and stack trace of crashing
application.
