Public bug reported: I'm using Amarok to play my music, and very nice it is too until it encounters some m4a files. I bought these files through iTunes on my Mac, though I'm not sure if that's relevant. What happens is that initially the files play OK but after about 10 minutes or so the sound becomes distorted (it sounds like a ring modualtor effect). It always happens with this particular album after 2 tracks, no matter where I start. I don't have any other albums in this format to try. Quitting and restarting Amarok clears the problem for another 2 tracks. I haven't noticed the same behaviour when playing mp3 files I switched to phonon-backend-mplayer and two things happened: (1) The sound corruption goes away (2) The sound quality generally improves overall. So I'm happy with mplayer thanks, but I thought I'd log this seeing as I found it. What were you thinking giving us KDE fans a gnome-based audio engine? ;-)
