Hello Michael, or anyone else affected,
Accepted kubuntu-settings into jammy-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-
settings/1:22.04.10 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.
Please help us by testing this new
Unfortunately it's not that simple. All legacy full-screen Plymouth
themes are affected by this bug. In order to work correctly, the
Plymouth theme is now relying on an existing parent theme as plymouth-
theme-ubuntu and plymouth-theme-ubuntustudio: plymouth-theme-spinner.
This parent theme relies
To what extent is this a minimal change to fix the issue? I'm unfamiliar
with Plymouth scripting, but wouldn't it be simpler to fix the existing
theme than to wholesale replace it?

Further testing suggests this is a significant/major contributor to
performance issues experienced in Gimp file saves (1971455).

Public bug reported:
Process 6242 - kioslave5
Summary
The process kioslave5 (with pid 6242) is using approximately 28.4 GB of memory.
It is using 28.4 GB privately, and a further 5.6 MB that is, or could be,
shared with other programs.
Dividing up the shared memory between all the processes
Public bug reported:
At 22.04 it appears that konsole will remember its last start position.
This means that if you want to start, say, 3 konsoles they will now sit on top
of each other, hiding how many there are. At 21.10 and earlier they would start
up non-overlapped (if possible).

Those are good points. I'm a bit baffled that this was not noticed by
other users of xdg-settings earlier. Maybe KDE users don't usually rely
on it? I'll file an upstream bug.
** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-utils/-/issues #10
