"This is One of the Very Best Documentaries Ever Made on U.S. Foreign
Policy!" - Frank Dorrel

 Dear Friends,

I highly recommend that you buy a copy of THE PANAMA DECEPTION, which
has been re-released. Google
"The Panama Deception", then click on The Empowerment Project's
Web-Site. This will help them gain a better position on Google. Read the
letter below, which I received from the Empowerment Project.

Easy Support for the Empowerment Project

If you would like to support the work of the Empowerment Project (EP)
this holiday season, there is something very simple you can do right
now. It will take just a few minutes, and will help boost EP's income
without you contributing a penny.

As you may know, the Oscar-winning documentary, The Panama Deception, is
being re-released as a special expanded DVD that includes extra features
analyzing the trajectory of U.S. militarism that has led to today’s
American warfare policy (see the description below). The new DVD is
being sold on the Empowerment Project's website: HYPERLINK
"http://empowermentproject.org/films.html"http://empowermentproject.org/
films.html and also on a number of other commercial websites such as
Amazon.com. We encourage supporters to purchase the DVD from EP's
website, because it means that EP earns more than twice as much from
each DVD than if it is purchased elsewhere.

Here's what you can do to help steer potential buyers to the EP website
(instead of one of the commercial websites):

Google The Panama Deception by going to http://www.google.com/ and
search for The Panama Deception. You will get over half a million web
pages listed in order of popularity. The popularity is based on how
often the links are followed from a Google search. Find the Empowerment
Project's web page (probably somewhere on the first page of links) and
click on the link. You have just increased the popularity of EP's web
page, which will help push it to the top of the list. Pushing it to the
top means that more people who search for the DVD will buy it from EP,
and provide much-needed income to help support EP's continuing work.
Wasn't that easy? Anyone else you can forward this to will also be
helpful.

Many thanks,

The Empowerment Project staff.

THE PANAMA DECEPTION Re-Released on DVD

The acclaimed film The Panama Deception, which won the Oscar for Best
Documentary Feature in 1992, is being re-released in a special expanded
DVD that includes current information about the impact of U.S.
militarism in the Middle East and around the world.

With eerie parallels to the invasion and occupation of Iraq, The Panama
Deception exposes the untold story of the 1989 U.S. invasion of Panama,
the events which led to it, the enormity of the death and destruction,
and the deceptive propaganda campaign that was used to sell the invasion
to the American public.

Extra features on the DVD analyze the significance of the Panama
invasion as a turning point in the trajectory of U.S. militarism that
has led to today’s American warfare policy. Included are interviews
with author Phyllis Bennis of the Institute for Policy Studies,
professor Greg Grandin of New York University, former Panamanian
diplomat Humberto Brown, and former CIA analyst David MacMichael.
Filmmakers Barbara Trent and David Kasper talk about their experience of
making the film and the effects it has had in the U.S. and Panama. The
DVD includes a resource directory with live weblinks to more than 60
alternative information sources and activist organizations. Also
included are trailers for other important independent films from
GoodFilms.org.

The new DVD is produced by the Empowerment Project, a non-profit media
production organization in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and distributed
by the Empowerment Project and by Docurama Films, a subsidiary of New
Video in New York.

The DVD can be ordered from the Empowerment Project’s website: HYPERLINK
"http://empowermentproject.org/films.html"http://empowermentproject.org/
films.html
or by phone at 919/928-0382.

Supporters are encouraged to purchase the DVD from the Empowerment
Project rather from Amazon or other commercial outlets, in order to more
directly support the ongoing work of the Empowerment Project.
