Hello Folks,
Veterans For Peace Los Angeles is in dire need to have volunteers come down to the Santa Monica beach (north side of the pier) to assist with the set up and take down of the Arlington West Memorial. We need people particularly to help set up the memorial in the morning and for take down of the memorial approximately three hours before sunset EACH SUNDAY. Our set up typically begins before sunrise but the bulk of volunteers arrive just after 7am-8am. Setting up and taking down are arduous tasks that require physical labor and agility. However, certain aspects of the set up and take down are less demanding physically, such as the proper stowing of the mementos that have been placed amongst the individual markers representing American fatalities in the current U.S. "undeclared" wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The initial placing and eventual stowing of these mementos is more clerical but does require walking through the sand and frequent bending over at the waist and or bending of knees. We are in particular need of U.S. military veteran members of Veterans For Peace to assist us throughout the day at the information table. This typically requires a lot of public interaction, 99% of which is all positive and supportive of our Arlington West Mission Statement, if not the VFP Statement of Purpose. So please do your part by contributing a little of your time to help us down there at the beach each and every Sunday between the hours of 7am-7pm. Every little bit helps and is appreciated!
