Someone else fact checked this article, and it has enough valid points for me to share his research, as it does show the original article is erroneous. On the group this was discussed on, one person there had to renounce their dual citizenship to get security clearance and another government web site link provided, I don't find at this moment, also stated that Security Clearance can't be had with dual citizenship.
Scott Re: Dual US / Israeli Citizenship -- Loyal to Whom? First of all your article is the sole source of the dual citizenship accusation. I have done extensive searches and they all link back to the same article, your article. There is no source or documentation in the article showing that the accusations are true. My own research unearthed a single technical exception: Michael Chertoff's mother was Israeli (she was an El Al flight stewardess) making him a citizen if he chose to take it, but he never served in the Israel military (compulsory for all 18 year olds except Haredim) indicating that he never took the citizenship he was eligible for. While many of these other folks might be ELIGIBLE for citizenship (any person who is Jewish may apply for citizenship), they are not. Here are a few examples: Jonathan Pollard was not a dual citizen when he was convicted of espionage in 1987. As discussed REPEATEDLY, dual nationals may not receive security clearances. He applied for Israeli citizenship in 1995 while serving in prison. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4213391,00.html. Stuart Nozette is not a dual citizen. He grew up in Rogers Park, Illinois. After leaving NASA and the Department of Energy, he worked for an Israeli owned aerospace company in the US, but is not a dual citizen, nor was he when he was arrested for trying to sell information to an FBI agent. http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Foreign-Policy/2009/1021/p02s02-usfp.html Ken Mehlman, grew up in Baltimore. He is gay, Jewish, but not an Israel citizen. (I grew up in Baltimore, know some folks who knew him growing up). John Bolton, a Lutheran (as is Robert Zoellick) is not a citizen nor would he be eligible for citizenship without living there. Paul Wolfowitz is the son of Polish Holocaust survivors, grew up in Brooklyn. http://www.biography.com/people/paul-wolfowitz-40390 Henry Kissinger, diplomat for Democrats and Republicans alike is Jewish, was born in Germany. If Kissinger is a dual citizen it would be the country of his birth Germany, which he fled with his parents in order to avoid extermination. Just because someone prints something in a single article that goes viral does not make it true. Just ask the Birthers. We've addressed the dual citizenship issue as well. Getting security clearances as dual citizens is near impossible. The article is wrong. The article is erroneous. The article is not factually correct.
