Hi All Going way way back - in "Lace" issue No. 28 (October 1982) there is a pattern by Margaret Clark for a tiny Honiton lace woodpecker. Not quite a kingfisher I know but a very similar overall shape. I've made him and wear him in a brooch and he is often mistaken for a Kookaburra / Kingfisher.

"Bees, birds and butterflies in lace" has the Nicaraguan Motmot in Binche,Irish and needle lace. While the body does resemble the British Kingfisher the long tail with the "pendulum" feathers does not. The Irish lace representation is the most suitable one. Patricia in Wales [EMAIL PROTECTED]
