Hi everyone
I thought while the list is quiet I would do one of our free raffles -
where you send your name by e-mail (to the person doing the raffle, not
to the list) and if I'm the raffler, I get the person nearest the
computer on the given draw date to pull a name for a wonderful prize. The

Brit Fairchild is a lady from Western Australia, who paints lovely bobbins.
Her email adress is: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
She carries a basic range of stock, but most of her bobbins are painted to
order, so it can take 6 - 8 weeks for bobbins to arrive. She has a catalogue,
so I suggest you email her
A year or so ago, Anna from Hungary (who is/was in the Lace List) sent me a
catalogue from an Exhibition for 100 years of Halas Lace, and Arpád Dékáni,
and also Mária Markovits who worked the lace.
The lace is beautiful, and inside the front cover is a photo of the bronze

Dear All spiders,
this is a question for the Aussie spiders who attend the AGM.
I was told there was a bobbin maker who did beautiful handpainted bobbins, and their
name I was told was "Fairchild" .
Does anyone have any contact details they can pass on to me about them?

Hello to all lacemakers,
I am now home in Parkes central NSW after having a couple of weeks doing

This has given our youngest daughter a couple of stress free weeks as

I spotted that Tamara said that she had received issue 23 at the start of
the month. Has anyone else in the USA seen theirs? There's no sign of mine
yet and I'm wondering whether to contact them and ask?

Hi All
Going way way back - in "Lace" issue No. 28 (October 1982) there is a
pattern by Margaret Clark for a tiny Honiton lace woodpecker. Not quite a
kingfisher I know but a very similar overall shape. I've made him and wear
him in a brooch and he is often mistaken for a Kookaburra / Kingfisher.
"Bees, birds and butterflies in lace" has the Nicaraguan Motmot in
Binche,Irish and needle lace. While the body does resemble the British Kingfisher the
long tail with the "pendulum" feathers does not. The Irish lace representation
is the most suitable one.

I think there may be a kingfisher in "Birds, Bees and Butterflies", but I
can't check because I'm in the middle of putting down a new floor in my
