Dear Spiders, I had to tell you of a comment I recieved over the weekend. I went to a gathering and one of the ladies complimented me on my wire lace flower brooch. When I said I had made it she said "It looked so perfect it can not be handmade!" She, of course, began to elaborate and cover

I have been working on a project that has a quantity of leaves. I seem to be having more than normal problem with making a smooth leaf. I usually can do better than the leaves I've been producing. It made me wonder if my thread is not compatible with leaf formation. I'm using black Egyptian

Hi Irene - The hackle pliers you describe are very inexpensive, so if one breaks, it's not a huge misfortune, and you can buy another! I have two "subtypes" of that plier... one has a metal ring through the top of the "plunger" end, which makes it very nice for holding it in place with a pin if

2005-01-18 Thread Whitham
Hello lacemakers, I bought myself a pair of hackle pliers and thought I had found the best tool ever. I found them very useful when a bobbin runs out and needs a new thread. There are probably other great uses but unfortunately mine broke before I could find out. I purchased them in a fishing

Alice, The way this is handled in some other organizations is that they often open up activities to members first and then backfill with non-members. For example, on lace days the sale room opens earlier for members than non-members. Classes open only to members until a certain date and then open
