Hi Sue -
I saw these a few days ago, and knew they weren't lace related. I suspect that
they were used to trace embroidery designs onto fabrics which required lots and
lots of repeats... such as bedskirts, curtains, etc.

Thank you Sue I did not notice that but as it was with the lacemaking
things I suppose I just assumed it meant bobbin lace. I have just
looked at the site and it looks quite an interesting card making device
but I really must not start yet another craft.
